People’s willingness to switch to greener heating will be surveyed by scientists from ECON MUNI

Local heating significantly worsens air quality in the Czech Republic. Scientists from ECON MUNI and RECETOX are looking for solutions and have been monitoring air quality in selected municipalities in the South Moravian Region since last autumn. The measurements are now followed by a questionnaire survey and interviews to discover under what conditions people are willing to change the way they heat their homes.

Jakub Procházka: Flexible architecture can improve the quality of the working environment

Unpleasant temperature, noise and lack of privacy. People working in open plan offices often complain about the quality of the working environment. An international research team, including scientists from ECON MUNI, has been looking for a solution since the beginning of the year. According to associate professor Jakub Procházka, the Brno researchers will be responsible for ethical issues, economic analysis and the creation of business models.

How much do we value the time we spend traveling? A PhD graduate estimates the cost of transfers and waiting times

How much do you value the time you spend traveling? How much would you be willing to pay extra for a ticket if the journey took just one hour less? Bára Karlínová, a graduate of ECON MUNI’s PhD programme, tackled similar questions in her doctoral research. She won the Dean's Award in October for her thesis, which explored the value of travel time.
