Popis Our aim was to study the relationship between f and BRS during spontaneous variations and to evaluate the f and BRS relationship as a diagnostic test of autonomous nervous impairment in young T1DM. We monitored 14 T1DM (age 20-25 years, DM duration 10-15 years, the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument did not reveal neuropathy in any patients) and 14 age-matched controls (Co). Blood pressure and heart rate were recorded beat-to-beat by Finapres for 40 minutes in supine position. BRS was determined by the spectral method, peak f of the cross spectra SBP x PI was determined in a 0.06 – 0.12 Hz range. Receiver operation curves (ROC) were calculated for f, BRS, and F(z). F(z) values were calculated from equations F(z)=1/(1+ exp(-z)), z=a+b1*BRS+b2*f. The ROC of f and the ROC of F(z)-values revealed 50% sensitivity with 100% specificity. The results indicate that the measurement of f and BRS can reveal subtle impairment of the autonomic nervous system where standard tests failed.
