Popis | Surface activation of polypropylene (PP) fibres used for reinforcement of concrete was tested in atmospheric pressure Diffuse Coplanar Surface Barrier Discharge generated in ambient air. The surface properties and chemical nature were studied by ATR-FTIR, wetting properties were investigated by contact angle measurement and surface morphology was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The plasma treatment changed totally hydrophobic surface of untreated PP fibres with water contact angle about 110 degrees to hydrophilic surface with contact angle about 50 degrees. This fact was caused by incorporating C – H and C=O groups. Moreover the surface wettability was improved without any mechanical damages of PP fibres. |
