Popis | Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their N-heterocycles (azaPAHs) are ubiquitous environmental pollutants and they are frequently present in contaminated soils. The aim of this study was compared the toxic effects of some two- and three-ringed PAHs (naphthalene, phenanthrene, anthracene) and their N-heterocyclic analogues with one (quinoline, acridine, phenanthridine) or two (quinoxaline, phenazine, 1,10-phenanthroline) nitrogen atoms on Enchytraeus crypticus survival and reproduction in OECD artificial soil test. The results did not indicate clear relationships between the toxicity and chemical structure of compounds. However, some trends were apparent and a kind of "pseudo-QSAR" might be possible. The final toxic effect in soil was affected both by individual compound fate in soil (bioavailability) and by specific mode of action to E.crypticus. Both these components must be included in the QSAR calculation in the soil. This research was supported by Grant Agency of Czech Republic 525/04/P159 |
