Popis Resistance to organic compounds, which are often highly toxic, is a common feature of bacteria isolated from polluted enviroment. Nitroaromatic compounds and their mixtures were used for isolation of bacteria from activated sludge and polluted soil. 15 strains of G+ and G- bacteria were isolated by the use of mineral media supplemented with 11 nitroaromatic compounds added as sole compound or a mixture. The isolated strains were preliminary characterized on the base of morphologic characteristics. First group were G- bacteria with 5 strains, second group were streptomycetes with 4 strains, next group rhodococci (5 strains) and 1 strain of mycobacterium. Subsequently, all strains were analysed by basic genetic and chemotaxonomic methods partial 16S rDNA sequences, fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) profiles, presence of diaminopimelic acids, mycolic acids, automated ribotyping.
