Popis It has been shown, that a formation of a self-assembled monolayer of single-stranded thiol-terminated nucleotides (HS-ssDNA) on gold electrodes leads to a multifold increase of electrochemical signals from anionic red/ox marker, dissolved in aqueous solution. The measurements were performed by cyclovoltametry and impedance spectroscopy. Experimental conditions where the DNA-coupled electrocatalysis is observed were evaluated. A binding of double-stranded thiol-terminated DNA to gold electrodes does not provide any eletrocatalytic effect. DNA hybridisation in solution led to increase of electrochemical activity.
