Popis | This study examined the relationship among body satisfaction and self-esteem and self-efficacy in adolescents. Participants were 354 younger adolescents (average age 14 years) and 274 older adolescents (average age 18 years), 52% girls and 48% boys, members of younger group study on primary schools, members of older group study on grammar schools and many kinds of high schools. Demographic information, body satisfaction scores, self-esteem scores and self-efficacy scores were obtained from the participant through a questionnaire. It was hypothesised that body satisfaction and self-esteem and self-efficacy would be related. It was expected that age and sex would impact this relationship. A significant relationship existed between overall body satisfaction (or dis-satisfaction) and self-esteem in all groups (both ages of girls and both ages of boys); we found also a significant relationship between overall body satisfaction (dis-satisfaction) and self-efficacy in group of younger girls and both groups of boys. |
