Popis This contribution informs about roles of parents and peers in the content and process of adolescent self-definition. Research ( 167 girls, 134 boys, mean age 16.3 years) explored domains of self-representations which are related to adolescent significant others - parents and friends. Respondents assessed their actual self (How I see my self), their perceived selves according to parents ( How I think that my mother/ father see myself), and selves according to friends (How I think that my friend /peers see myself). As an instrument, semantic differential, including 23 bipolar scales, was used. Moreover, adolescent self-esteem and life satisfaction were measured. Firstly, global similarities of profiles of assessments are described. Similarities between the actual self and self according to friends are evident. In regard to parents, adolescents actual self is more similar to assessment of their mother than to assessment of their father. However, there are gender differences: the similarity of actual-self and assessments of parents is higher for girls than boys. The second part of results presents different relationships among self-esteem dimensions on one side and the assessment of perceived selves on the other side. Factor analysis of all scales was performed to identify more specific dimensions of semantic space of adolescents' assessments. Within this space, more concrete similarities and differences of assessments were found. Results reveal that adolescents' actual self is more similar to assessment of their mother than to assessment of their father (higher for girls than boys). Similarity between assessment of mother and assessment of father is higher for boys than for girls. Common semantic space of assessment of actual self, selves according to mother and father are defined by five factors: Moral evaluation, Social popularity, Valuableness, Acievement (Performance), and Power . In this context, adolescents see their selves and their parents positive or rather positive. Profiles of assessments of adolescents and assessments of their parents are different. Mother is highly positive, with high social prestige, and high pleasantness. Father is strongest and positive (more in case of boys) , with medium level of social prestige and pleasantness. Actual self-assessment of adolescents includes high social prestige (more in case of girls) and rather positive evaluation (no gender differences). Moreover, girls emphasize (more than boys) their own pleasantness, boys emphasized (more than girls ) their own power.
