Popis Social enterprises as organisations combining the aspects of the non-profit and for-profit may have a unique opportunity for addressing targeted social issues. However, at the same time, their functioning is more complex and challenging than in it is in the case of purely non-profit or for-profit organisations because of handling two sometimes competing logics – fulfilling the social goal while being competitive on the market. These aspects may cause tension arising within the organisations or even cause their unsustainability in the long term. As a result of the lacking research on the Czech social enterprises and the relatively underdeveloped knowledge on the performance of social enterprises in general, the research aims to provide a comprehensive picture of how these organisations perform in the Czech Republic. The study, therefore, aims to identify which factors affect the overall performance of social enterprises and what strategies are used to balance contradictory social and commercial logics. Based on the conducted analyses and related comparisons to conclude how social enterprises perform in the Czech Republic.
