Popis | Sustained over-activation of the Receptor for Advanced Glycation End-products (RAGE) in diabetes is considered one of the pathways involved in hyperglycemia induced damage and chronic inflammation. One of the possible explanations might be epigenetic changes induced by high glucose, which were described to be responsible for the “metabolic memory” phenomenon. The aim of this study was to determine RAGE promoter methylation in cytosin-guanine dinucleotides (CpGs) in vitro in endothelial (HUVEC) and embryonic kidney (HEK-293) cell lines in hyper- vs. normoglycemic conditions and in vivo (peripheral blood cells, PBCs) in patients with T2DM with established diabetic kidney disease (DKD, n = 12) compared to healthy counterparts (n = 12) . |
