Popis Building management systems that integrates control and monitoring of building operation are common in modern ("intelligent") buildings. With the increasing size of the building management system size, its management becomes complex task consisting of configuration management, fault detection and prevention, performance monitoring and auditing of user actions. In large building complexes detecting faults in BMS becomes difficult and time consuming for human operators. Faults that remain undetected in the system for long time periods can cause increased operation costs or prevent reliable analysis of building operation. Some of the issues of large BMS can be resolved by use of existing network management tools or development of specific software that automatically detects faults in the system. The aim of this article is to present experience with management of large BMS at University Campus in Brno-Bohunice and to propose algorithms and techniques for detection of specific types of faults.
