Popis | New results from archaeological research in southern Moravia and Lower Austria are leading to a new understanding of the early medieval development of the region. It is now clear, that in the 9th century the Greater Moravian and the East Frankish-Bavarian power blocs faced each other here. This bipolar world broke apart at the beginning of the 10th century in the course of the collapse of Greater Moravia and the Magyar invasions. The revival of the original central area took place after the pacific cation of the Hungarians in the 970s. An important focal point emerged at the junction of the rivers March and Thaya. The most important finds besides the many coins are a pair of scales and a spherical weights. |
