Description | Cognitive theories of moral development concentrate on moral structures (Colby, Kohlberg, 1987) or gender differences in moral reasoning (Gilligan, Attanucci, 1988). A research sample consisted of 213 Czech adolescents aged 14-19 years. We used a moral dilemma questionnaire (according Rest, 1997) and pair comparison of ten life values (Macek, Osecka, 1991, according Schwartz 1987). We found out that values especially values referring to relationships to other people and to self had effect on moral dilemma solving. Surprisingly, values also predicted moral dilemma reasoning, which is in strong contradiction to Kohlbergs assumptions and shows on the importance of context. |
