Description | Given the ever-increasing migration and the associated language barrier in education, I have decided to explore this area. The aim of my work is to find out what teachers' approaches to learners with heterogeneous language repertoires are. My dissertation research will focus on the multilingualism of second-level primary school teachers in the Czech Republic, as the topic of multilingualism has not been sufficiently researched in the Czech Republic. In my dissertation research I focus on multilingualism of second grade elementary school teachers in the Czech Republic because the topic of multilingualism is not sufficiently explored in the Czech Republic. I examine (1) teachers' perceptions of linguistic heterogeneity in classrooms; (2) teachers' support and its manifestations in teaching; (3) changes in teachers' attitudes towards their profession. The main source of data is semi-structured interviews with school teachers. The first results from the semi-structured interviews can be seen here. The research is in its early stages as I am a first year PhD student. |
