The winners of the MUNISS inter-university competition are developing a digital platform for Brno university students in cooperation with the city. It should contain useful information and make it easier for young people to live and study in Brno. The team successfully presented their project at the URBIS fair in early June.

On 6 June, students from three Brno universities presented their project, which won the MUNISS competition, at the Smart Cities Meetup URBIS. Its aim is to popularise the inter-university student competition and to create a digital platform with advice and recommendations for Brno university students. "We were very pleased with the interest of the attendees in the data we collected and worked with, as well as the number of stimulating questions," comments the leader of the winning team, Eva Vlková.

The students’ final proposal consists of two parts. The first is a short-term campaign and rebranding of the MUNISS competition itself. "Already during the February hackathon, we addressed the problem of lower interest in the competition. It turned out that one of the reasons was its appearance," explains the student of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, MU. According to her and her teammates, the name itself gives the impression that the competition is only for students of one university. At the same time, the current brand of the competition is not connected to the city of Brno and its student community.

The second part of the project is the creation of a student module in Brno ID, or possibly a separate website. The new digital platform should serve as a source of information and tips on how to make student life in Brno more enjoyable. At the same time, it will help students at Brno universities to face the obstacles they may encounter during their studies in Brno.

The winning team of Eva Vlková, Veronika Mitická, Mikuláš Sejbal (Masaryk University), Nicole Cosansel (Mendel University) and Matej Matyska (University of Technology) spent the month of May collecting data, which they are now using to create the final design in collaboration with the city. "The output will be a description and design of the campaign for the inter-university competition, together with a visual representation and description of the functionalities of the student platform," summarises Eva Vlková. The students will then submit the final version of the project to representatives of the city of Brno for evaluation.
