Did you know that part of the Špitálka site, which is currently used by Brno heating plants, will be transformed into a smart district in the future? Until that happens, Brno City is looking for temporary use of the site. The students of the MUNISS Interuniversity Student Competition have taken on this task. The first result of their efforts is the exhibition Zapoj Špitálku, which can be seen on the streets of Brno in October. And if you want to participate in the development of the city, too, enter the upcoming MUNISS competition!
The exhibition of student works focused on the development of the city of Brno within the framework of MUNISS can also be seen on the premises of the Faculty of Economics and Administration MU. Here you can see the works from previous years of the competition (located at the entrance to the foyer through the main entrance), but also the works of the last year, which focused on the design of the transformation of part of the Brno heating plants into a smart district Špitálka. These can be viewed on the mezzanine of the 2nd-3rd floors by the main staircase.
If you visit the streets of Brno, you will come across panels telling the story of Špitálka as a part of the Zapoj Špitálka exhibition. From all the panels, you can also directly look at the dominant cooling tower. The Zapoj Špitálku exhibition is a kind of kick-off of student ideas and will be on display in Brno until the end of October. Next year, however, even you can encounter your own work at every turn. So, don't hesitate to enter the new edition of the MUNISS Interuniversity Student Competition!
What is MUNISS?
MUNISS is a competition for all students from Masaryk University, BUT, and Mendel University in Brno held annually since 2009. It is organized in cooperation with the Brno City Council, which is the main partner of the whole project, and above all the sponsor of the topics of each year. Therefore, you can look forward to solving studies focused on the development of the city.
During the competition, you will participate in workshops and consultations with experts and, thanks to working in multidisciplinary teams, you will get to know students from different schools, faculties, and disciplines. There will be no shortage of new knowledge and experience. In addition to experience, new contacts, and friends, you can also receive a financial reward, with the best teams sharing 150,000 crowns. The competition was established and is implemented by the Department of Business Administration in cooperation with the Research and Projects Office at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of MU.
If you are interested in the competition, you can find more information at www.muniss.cz (switch to English in the top left corner). Registration for the next edition is currently underway and will be closed on November 15th, 2022.
