| Description | Langerhans‘ cell hystiocytosis can affect basically any organ or tissue. It often afflicts the skin and causes divergent manifestations: infiltrations in the anogenital area, and also in intertriginous areas. Langerhans’ cell hystiocytosis develops in hair-covered parts of the body, on the chest or in axillas, it can, however, appear at any part of body surface. To confirm the diagnosis of Langerhans cell hystiocytosis of the skin, a histological examination must always be performed. The disease cannot be identified from the macroscopic appearance alone. The infliction of the skin can be isolated, or it can be a part of multi organ infliction. It is important to recognise this rare disease early, before it causes severe and irreversible damage. |
