Description Ministry of Environment is responsible for areas relating to the handling of chemicals. The issue can be divided into two parts, one of the first legislation relating to chemicals at the national and European level (directives, regulations), including new chemicals policy REACH. The second part is the issue of chemicals at the international level in relation to international conventions on chemicals - the Rotterdam Convention and Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and Activities of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in relation to heavy metals (particularly mercury, cadmium and lead) and the strategic Approach to International chemicals Management (SAICM).
