| Description | The energy of a water course is given among others by the water discharge and water bed slope. Theoretical calculation of the energy of unitary water stream is based on the premise saying the unitary water volume (1 m3) performs a work going downhill from the highest to the lowest point of an elementary catchment area (app. 5 sq km), generated by the computer using DEM data. Such work depends on the vertical and horizontal distance between these points and is being reduced by the water bed surface friction. The real water stream performance thus reflects the water discharge in the lowest point of the catchment area. |
