Description The changes that the "Web 2.0" brings into the development of rich internet applications and online project management are taken into account in this paper. Namely development of a web-based service TAKEPLACE, a case study project aimed at online event management, is described. The service deals with planning, managing and promoting professional events. The paper characterizes its functionality analysis and design, presents methods of realization and outlines the expected impact on building professionally-oriented online social communities.
