Description | We examined the sonochemical synthesis of MnxFe2-xO4 and we compare it with Co feritte synthesis. Composite nanoscopic particles consisting of Mn-Fe oxide particles and an organic matrix were prepared by sonolysis of mixtures of 2,4-pentanedionato complexes, M(acac)n, M = Fe, Mn; n = 3. Addition of variable amounts of water was found to facilitate the decomposition of precursor complexes. That allowed control of the organics content and the BET surface area of the oxide nanoparticles. SEM was used to examine particle shape, size, and size distribution with. Variable temperature XRD revealed the cubic bixbyite (MnxFe1-x)2O3 and jacobsite MnFe2O4 crystallization on heating. |
