Description Labor market of the European Union is seriously affected by the economic crisis since 2008. This economic crisis caused an increase in unemployment in all countries and regions, as well as decrease in the number of vacancies. However, it is quite a heterogeneous process, spreading from region to region, from state to state with different levels of intensity, impact and varying evolution in time. Regional differences within the EU were changed by crisis. The main aim of this contribution is to describe recent changes in the unemployment rate which were observed among the regions and the EU member states during the economic crisis and in particular, to analyze a trend in development of regional disparities (according to unemployment rate) by the means of a selected indicator of the variability depending on the spatial scale.
