Description The article presents research results on teaching Russian to pupils with communication competency disturbance at school. The paper gives a brief outline of the issue with relation to foreign language acquisition. In the following, it focuses on pronunciation problems in learning Russian that are influenced by deficiencies at phonetic and phonological level of language and in teaching the peculiarities of Russian pronunciation and sounds.
