Citation
Description Parasite fauna of N. kessleri and N. melanostomus was studied in Bulgarian (native populations), Croatian, Slovak and Austrian section (non-native populations) of the Danube River. No significant difference in parasite abundance or number of parasite species was found between native and non-native population of any of the host species. However, the difference in infection was found between N. kessleri and N. melanostomus introduced populations. N. melanostomus was less parasitized which might have contributed to the better dispersion observed in this species in the new area of distribution.
