Description The Brno area played without doubt a significant role in the Neolithic, above all in the period of Moravian Painted Ware Culture. This fact was enabled, i. e., by abundant local sources of raw materials suitable for the polished stone industry manufacture having origin in the Brno area. The most important local materials are: greenschist of the Želešice-type,amphibole diorite and diorite porphyry.
