Description | In the paper, we describe an agent-based system for simulation of electrical power network processes called Rice. The system consists of individual agents that communicate by means of a heterogeneous dynamic network. The prototype implementation of the system is based on open standards CORBA and KQML. The central topic of this paper is the description of the KQML layer of inter-agent communication in Rice and the designed optimizations needed for a scalable implementation of real-world power networks. We summarize the specification of KQML in general as well as the particular requirements of the power network simulation environment and offer justification of the proposed optimizations to the message content language. |
