Description | Comparative chromosome painting with Arabidopsis painting probes arranged according to the 24 ancestral chromosomal blocks was used (i) to explore the extent of shared chromosome colinearity between analyzed n=7 species and the n=8 AK karyotype, (ii) to get insight into mechanisms of chromosome number reduction (from n=8 to n=7) across the Brassicaceae, and (iii) to assess the evolutionary significance of karyotype alterations within the molecular phylogenetic framework. |
