Description | The basic problem, which should solve any subject in public administration providing access to public goods and services, is the public funds co-financing of cultural services in aspect of efficiency. In the last five years managers of culture organisations asking for public subsidy, boosted up by Culture policy of Culture ministry of the Czech Republic, argue with findings provided by alternative theory of multiplication effects. Nevertheless in the Czech Republic only one primary examination on this topic was made. So there are arguments, picked up from foreign research or this one particular Czech research, but they are not based on real data. That is why Department of Public Economics, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, initiated research of public subsidy multiplication effects to Brno is theatres which has been made in cooperation with two pre-graduation students at first half 2007. The data has been collected from subscribers of the National Theatre in Brno, the Brno City Theatre, and from websites visitors of the Centre for experimental theatre, connecting three stages of alternative theatre in Brno. Information acquired through primary data collection from visitors was combined with secondary research of economic department materials of each theatre. This research, as mentioned above, is not new in the Czech Republic, because similar one was made in 1999 in four non-Prague theatres. For the theatres in Brno, the research brought new data and connections, which could be used for solving problems mentioned at the beginning. The goal of this paper is not only theoretical explanation of multiplication effects, its principles and results of finished researches, but also to inform about methods, process, results and weak spots of this research in Brno. |
