Description | The aim of our study was to investigate a wide spectrum of biotopes in the alluvium of the middle Gambia River in the Niokolo Koba National Park in Senegal. We focused on comparison of abundance and fish diversity in particular habitat types (main channel, tributaries, oxbows, periodic pools). We found 47 fish species. Barbus macrops, B. pobeguini, Rhabdalestes septemtrionalis, Brycinus leuciscus, B. nurse and Tilapia guineensis were the most dominant fish species present in all habitat types. All biotopes were characterized by one or several fish species. |
