| Description | Floods in year 2000 meant one of the most destructive flood cases during the last century and stroke an extensive area in a whole Europe. Total economic losses achieved more than 15 billion EUR. These floods stroke also the Czech Republic - they had an extraordinary character, partly in extent of incurred losses that insurance industry had not ever remembered, partly in rapidity and intensity of rains and consecutive spillage of watercourses. In the paper, flood risk and approaches to its solving will be commented. The description of the situation in the Czech Republic after the floods will be also mentioned as well as an explanation of the relation between insurance industry and flood risks. |
