Citation
Description We compare two samples of adolescents representing two different generations of Czech adolescents. In the early nineties, they bore many features that distinguished them from adolescents in Western Europe; however, at present, the differences have been wiped out. Contemporary Czech adolescents emphasize, to a greater extent than the previous generation, the value of leisure time and education. They appear to be more individualistically oriented. The influence of adult authorities (parents, teachers, etc.) on self-definition have decreased. The present generation of Czech adolescents does not experience only more autonomy, independence and freedom, but also greater insecurity and a general lack of positive norms, values and rules.
