Description A set of 25 lymphomas of mantle cells was evaluated according to the morphologic criteria. In addition to the morphology and immunohistochemistry, we performed analysis of the t(11;14)(q13;q32) translocation in all cases by FISH. In 12 cases, detailed analysis of the p53 tumor suppressor status was performed. Functional state of p53 was determined by FASAY. All p53 mutations were identified by sequencing of DNA purified from the yeast colonies. Loss of heterozygosity of the p53 gene was determined by detection of the 17p13.1 locus by FISH. The level of the p53 protein was determined by immunohistochemistry using monoclonal antibody DO7 and by immunoblotting using monoclonal antibody DO1.
