Description The molluscs of the Razula National Nature Reserve were studied in 2001 and 2003. Altogether 41 species were recorded. The reserve represents a well preserved fragment of Asperulo-Fagetum beech virgin forest with occurrence of many rare and endangered mollusc species, some of them being known from the Vsetínské vrchy Mts. only from here. The community of the site is dominated by strictly forest species including the threatened Vitrea transsylvanica, Platyla polita, and Vertigo alpestris. The occurrence of the clausilids Bulgarica cana and Macrogastra latestriata is of prime importance and indicates a high conservation value of the reserve. The Carpathian snail M. latestriata is a typical inhabitant of virgin forests. The NE part of the Czech Republic lies at the westernmost limit of its distribution.
