Description | Biooxidation of elemental sulfur to sulfuric acid plays an important role in spontaneous biogeochemical processes in sulfide deposits (sulfide wastes, abandoned ore mines). Environmental acidification and metal migration are the results of those processes. The purpose of the study was to investigate a correlation among growth conditions, physiological factors and selected kinetic constants of elemental sulfur oxidation by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans. |
