Description Microwave interferometer is a~useful device in plasma diagnostics. An important advantage of this device is that it does not disturb the plasma. However, in classical arrangement, microwave interferometer measurement yields a~line integrated plasma density. Localized measurement of plasma density may be carried out using microwave interferometer with dielectric rod antennae. Electromagnetic wave propagating along such a~dielectric rod is, in general, influenced by dielectric properties of outer medium i.e., the plasma. Phase velocity of electromagnetic wave propagating along a dielectric waveguide surrounded by plasma is computed and the results concerning microwave interferometry diagnostics are discussed.
