Examined the development of close relationships and variables meaningful for continuing of close relationship in the non-internet environment. Qualitative research design and semi-structured interview were used. Results indicate variables important for initiation and development of close relationships in the internet environment: motivation for acquaint oneself via internet, place of meeting in the internet environment, form and content of communication, expectation, face to face rendezvous, inherence of three components of love (intimacy, passion, commitment) in the internet period of development close relationship. Assumptions based on results that authors recommend for validation: The more stable and deep-going close relationship that could continue in the reality, if the main motivation for familiarisation in the internet environment is not desire to find partner. The longer the internet communication, the higher probability of successful persisting of the relationship in reality. The more commitment in the close relationship during internet period, the less importance of physical appearance for development of relationship in the reality. The high intensity of intimacy and passion in the close relationship during internet period, the higher probability of breaking-up of relationship after face to face rendezvous. The more forms of computer mediated communication (chat, ICQ, e-mail, etc.), the higher probability of successful continuing of the close relationship. |
