Description The 2nd Polish-Czech-German Conference "Bats of Sudety Mountains" was organised by the Czech Bat Conservation Trust (ČESON), the Czech Union of Nature Conservationists (ČSOP) and the Museum and gallery in Česká Lípa. This Symposium follows after the first Polish-Czech-German conference in Jelenia Góra in 2002. The Sudeten are situated on the territories of the three states mentioned above. However, no borders between states do exist to bats. This conference, therefore could be a starting point for the local cross-border chiropterologist research. Thus the main goal of this meeting is the exchange of information and developing of co-operation between chiropterologists working in the Sudetes. Czech Republic joined the European union in May 2004. More extensive protection of bat sites should be provided within the NATURA 2000 network. Therefore a proposal of Special Protected Areas in the Sudety area was discussed within the symposium.
