Description The investigation of the gifted childrens self-esteem is one part of the wider research focused on the sociability and emotionality of the gifted in the Czech Republic. The research is carried out in the sample of children at the age of 7-9. In the first stage of the research we identified the gifted children. We used Raven`s Coloured Progressive Matrices to screen the intelligence of the children in the classrooms. Childrens teachers and parents were asked to identify their children as gifted. In the second stage of the research we investigated the selected children elaborately. We used a lot of methods to obtain the required data but the most important for examination of the self-esteem and the intelligence were Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and Harters Self-Perception Profile for Children. The teachers evaluate childrens self-esteem by filling out Teachers Rating Scale of Childs Actual Behaviour.
