Description From electrochemical point of view the azido group is electroactive and gives the reduction peak on mercury electrodes. This signal was studied by cyclic, elimination voltammetry and potentiostatic electrolysis. According voltammetric and potentiostatic results the schema of reduction process of azides (AZT,AZU,AZC)was proposed. In the case of azidocytidine beside the azide reduction peak the reduction peak of cytosine was detected. Two azidomethylendihydrofuranones (AZMDF)in the different forms - isomers (E) and (Z) gave the reduction signals at more positive potentials (from - 250 to -300 V). The largest difference of peak potentials for (E) and (Z) isomers in borate buffer (~ 100 mV) guarantees their best separation with the lowest detection limit.
