Description | Ergosterol,if found in most fungi to be the major sterol. It binds to a putative receptor and triggers a defence reaction in tobacco cells (oxidative burst and pH changes of extracellular medium. The results indicate that ergosterol induces a mobilisation of internal calcium. |
