Description In the paper the principles of the on-line connection of electrochemical cell and mass spectrometer and overview of some theoretical and practical aspects of - differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS) are given. DEMS is a type of experimental technique, which makes it possible to do investigation of electro-sorption, electro-oxidation and electro-hydrogenation processes of molecules like aromatic hydrocarbons and some other small organic molecules and reaction intermediates. We have demonstrated the use of our experimental set-up for detection, identification and observation in time of volatile and semivolatile species during electrochemical polarisation of working electrode. The results of measurements are presented as a plots of ion currents of selected masses of expected products as a function of working electrode potential (MSCV). Simultaneously the faradaic current-potential curves (CV) were measured as well.
