| Description | The paper draws on studies that deal with linguistic forms of comedy, imagination and play. It explains why humour is important to humans and how it accompanies them through life; it shows linguistic comedy through practical examples (e.g. metaphors). The main part of the paper focuses on the thematization of language games and modern tendencies in foreign language didactics. Since language play is crucial in language teaching from both linguistic and cultural studies perspectives, we believe that it has its place in language course syllabi. |
