| Description | The following text is a reflection on the specifics that conditioned the starting points of new media art of the first post-Maoist generation of artists in the People ´s Republic of China. It tries to find out whether the geopolitical origin and politically motivated interpretations related to the unfree political establishment at the place of its origin contribute to different interpretations (or misinterpretations) of the meaning of this art. It considers the historical-philosophical inspirations of Chinese media works and the effort of their authors to define their own identity by referring to Chinese cultural tradition. She also pays attention to the degree of influence of new media on the level of interpretation. |
