Description | The policy paper is one of the outputs of the project South Caucasus at the Intersection of Interests, which was implemented in 2021-2022 (applied research project). The aim of the paper is to map what are the economic ties of the main actors - mainly the EU, Russia, China and Turkey in the region - in specification with Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Minor attention is also given to Iran and to a lesser extent Israel (mainly due to the significant increase in arms trade between Israel and Azerbaijan, particularly in recent years). Some important political aspects are not omitted either, mainly because of the multidimensional nature of the actors in the region. The study was written at the time of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, so the context of this event is also taken into account (especially in the conclusion). |
