Description Substrate Assisted Laser Desorption (SALD) coupled with mass ICP MS spectrometry is a suitable technique for elemental analysis of samples deposited on plastic surfaces. 1,2 Immunochemical assays are a versatile immunoassay method for quantitative determination of a range of biologically relevant molecules that can be binding of a suitable antibody. These assays use enzymatic amplification or sensitive fluorescence or luminescence detection primarily in sandwich immobilised on a suitable surface. Use of nanoparticles as tags and ICP MS as a sensitive detector is a possible alternative to existing detection schemes. The aim of this work is to test SALD for the detection of nanoparticle-labeled antibodies from a polystyrene microtiter plate commonly used in immunochemical assays. In addition to the 96-well plate format, the a planar plate compatible with conventional laser cells ablation.
