Description | Have you ever wondered how much information you scrape off when brushing your teeth? We can learn a lot about past civilisations from humble dental calculus that forms by calcification of our dental plaque. Anything we chew or inhale can leave a trace - various particles are trapped and preserved even after thousands of years. As a result of that, we can study DNA and proteins that survived centuries and learn about the diet, health, and lifestyle of populations that are long gone. |
