Description The aim of the presentation is to identify tensions in the school-based language policy. The data were collected within the project cooperation in Brno and Vienna and analyzed according to tensions in setting language policy on different places in schools (interviews with headmasters, document analysis, school-based language policy documents, school observations). The data were interpreted according their position on continuum between (linguistic) plurality and uniformity. Following on that were identified strong and weak sites of school-based language policy, which were subsequently discussed.
