Description | Social networks can be used as a tool for local government to provide information occurring in public sphere and to create two-way communication channel in order to obtain feedbacks and ideas and to increase civic participation. Though there is research devoted to analysing local government social networks, little is known about the content of their communication via these platforms. The aim of the paper is, therefore, to analyse what content local governments upload on their Facebook pages. By using content analysis, 838 posts of all 13 regional cities of the Czech Republic were analysed in order to find for what purposes the regional municipalities use Facebook and what is the structure of posts uploaded by the regional municipalities on their Facebook pages. The analysis shows the one-way communication prevails over the two-way communication. |
