Description | Linguistic Landscapes are everyday phenomena, such as the use of writing and speech in public spaces. Not only do they provide insight into the diversity of languages, they also reflect the social structures of a city or district. They are for example, traffic signs, advertising and scoreboards, street and place names, shop signs and labels on public buildings or graffiti. In the contribution the approach of the linguistic landscapes is treated, whereby as starting point the extended conception serves, as it crystallizes in the last years in the didactic discussion. A linguistic landscaping in the Czech city of Brno (Brno) focuses on the foreign language didactic potential of Linguistic Landscapes. |
