Description Current possibilities in the field of diagnostic and screening methods continue to show significant advances, however, complex and multiplex applications are still lacking. Our research is focused on development of a methodology with the potential for rapid and simultaneous screening of a wider spectrum of pathogens in a mixed sample. The qualitative analysis is based on multiplex oligonucleotide ligation-PCR (MOL-PCR), adapted to the xMAP suspense detection system using magnetic microspheres. By optimizing the reaction conditions, we have developed a comprehensive protocol for the rapid detection of medically and clinically significant viruses, bacteria and parasites, contaminating food sources in particular. Individual systems are currently being tested with a focus on multiplex functionality. Our goal is to create detection panels adapted to different types of input matrices, such as vegetables/fruits, meat, water, and stools.
